Analog - A traditional tobacco cigarette.
Atomizer – Also known as an “atty” for short This is the part of the electronic cigarette that heats up the e-liquid and turns it into vapor.
Battery – Kind of obvious when you sit and think about it. The battery’s job is to deliver power to the atomizer.
Blanks – Cartridges with dry filler material to be filled with e-liquid by the user. Also a cartridge with the filler material removed to be used as just a mouthpiece when dripping liquid.
Cartomizer – A type of cartridge that combines the cartridge and atomizer in one unit. Easy to use but I find them messy to refill.
Cartridge (aka Cart) - The part that makes up the mouthpiece for the electronic cigarette and contains a reservoir with filler material to hold the e-liquid.
Lung Hit – The feeling in your chest as you inhale the vapor directly into your lungs (The hit varies depending on the liquid used and it’s nicotine content)
Coil - The part inside the atomizer that heats up.
Cut off - A safety feature of some electronic cigarette models. The battery shuts down to prevent atomizer from overheating. Many newer models ignore the implementation of this feature at the request of many users.
Dipping – The technique of dipping an exposed atomizer coil into e-liquid. This works for the M401/402 type atomizers as well as the 306.
DIY – Do-It-Yourself. Within the vaping community there is a growing trend for mixing your own e-juice flavors. On the whole this is cheaper and the results can sometimes be quite surprising.
Dripping – The technique of dripping e-liquid directly from the bottle onto the atomizer coil. (Tip: 3 is the Magic number)
ECA – Electronic Cigarette Association
ECF - e-cigarette-forum.com is one of the most popular forums about electronic cigarettes and has a large user base that are more than willing to share information.
E-cig – Sometimes saying a whole word just takes tooo… long many electronic cigarette users like to refer to their electronic cigarette as an E-cig for short.
E-liquid – The mother liqueur, E-liquid is the term used to describe the liquid used in an electronic cigarette to produce the vapor. other nonemclature you may come across on the forums and blogs are nic-liquid, juice, e-juice, niquid, nic-juice. The most popular however still remain E-liquid and E-Juice.
Personal Vaporizer – Another name for and electronic cigarette. Used by some vendors and users alike to try and disassociate themselves from the traditional smoking habit.
FDA – An abbreviation of the Food and Drug Administration. In the United States it is the Food and drug Administration that governs the legality and therefore the sale or prohibition thereof of the Electronic Cigarette.
Manual Switch – Switch operated by user to turn battery power on/off
MG – Milligram (in this case refers to the amount of nicotine per milliliter of e-liquid.)
ML - Milliliter is the industry standard for the measuring of e-liquid/juice
Mod – A modification or moderator depending on context in which it is being used
NRT – Nicotine Replacement Therapy. It is important to note that the Electronic cigarette is not an NRT. Consensus is that the Electronic Cigarette is an alternative to traditional smoking and should be marketed to you as such.

PG – propylene glycol
Throat Hit - Feeling in your throat caused by vapor being inhaled. The sensation is somewhat analogous to eating a chili as often it is the same chemical present in the E-Liquid that is the catalyst.
USB Passthrough - is an empty battery casing which has a wire and a USB plug and runs directly off your computer’s power, Very useful when at home as it saves the power on your regular batteries for when your out and about.
Vaper – An electronic cigarette user
Vaping - The “present tense” description of using an electronic cigarette.
Vapor – the smoke like cloud of steam produced by exhaling whilst using your electronic cigarette
